This rom-com drama builds on many Irish traditions including the legend that St Bridget and Patrick arranged that women could propose on 29th February. The film has everything Ireland has to offer – An Irish Wedding, local pub scenes and characters, improbable romances, and a crazy journey by taxi across the country.

Trivia:
Ballynahinch Castle, where the Leap Year stars stayed, is popular as a hideaway for stars while on a film location. The luxury hotel was once the home of one of the founders of the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
