While primarily filmed in the USA, the couple’s honeymoon scenes were shot around Connemara. It featured Roundstone, Inagh Valley, and Loch Nafooey.  The film became the Christmas family film in the US that year.

Famous Association: The film is associated with the famous screwball comedy starring Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant. Bringing Up Baby is about a couple rearing a young leopard cub. Marley and Me spawned a TV series.

Set the scene:   Film makers used the exterior of Lough Inagh Lodge Hotel to display their honeymoon hotel, and the cast stayed at Ballynahinch Castle. Take a drive through the Inagh Valley or Loch na Fooey to explore the film locations of Marley & Me. Stroll around Roundstone like Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson did in the film.

Links: Joe Joyce and his sheepdogs (Joyce Country Sheepdogs) appear in the scene where the sheep block the road in the film. Richard ‘Humanity Dick’ Martin, one of the founders of the RSPCA, once lived at Ballynahinch Castle Estate, where the stars stayed during filming.
