Féile John Ford is a unique new festival in An Spidéal honouring Hollywood legend John Ford and his Cois Fharraige roots.

Féile John Ford is a unique  cultural festival that will be held in An Spidéal, Co. Galway, celebrating one of Hollywood’s greatest directors, whose family came from Cois Fharraige.

The festival celebrates John Ford’s films and legacy with:

  • Live music (ceol beo)
  • Panel discussions (plé painéil)

Horizon – Íor na Spéire
A photography competition for students exploring Home / Place / Community, inspired by John Ford’s connection with Cois Fharraige. Sponsored by Creative Ireland.

John Ford Workshop – Young Filmmakers Workshop
For filmmakers aged 15–17, exploring visual storytelling inspired by John Ford. Taking place the weekend before the festival – 5th/6th September. Sponsored by Coimisiún na Meán and Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.

Francis (Feeney) Ford
An event featuring Michael Ford, grandson of John Ford’s older brother Francis “Frank” Ford. Michael will be interviewed by Tony Tracy before the screening of Hangman’s House on Sunday.
