Taking place 19th to 22nd August in Clifden this year marks 100 Years of the Connemara Pony Show.
The world’s biggest display of our native breed pony, we look forward to welcoming breeders, riders, producers & pony lovers from around the world for four days of competition & celebration.

Hightlights

Day 1 Tuesday 19th

Free jumping for three year-old Connemara ponies

The All-Ireland Connemara Pony Three-Year-Old Loose Jumping Final takes place in the Showgrounds Arena.

Qualified three-year-old ponies are judged on conformation and jumping ability.

Day 2 Wednesday 20th

Traditional Connemara Pony ‘in-hand’ show day

Dog show, a domestic arts section, and an Irish Step Dancing competition.

 

In-hand Judging

Ring One (from 8:30am):

Classes for yearlings, two- and three-year-olds, and mares (with or without foals).

Junior and Supreme Championships for top young stock and broodmares.

Ring Two (from 9am):

Classes for geldings, young handlers (10–15 yrs), mini young handlers (3–9 yrs), 138cm and under mares, foals, and older mares without foals.

Champion Foal class wraps up the in-hand section.

 

Day 3 Thursday 21st

Focus: Connemara Pony Ridden Classes

Ridden pony classes for various age groups of riders and ponies, including lead rein and side saddle.

Champion Ridden Pony decided from top placements.

Family Working Hunter class for riders under 16.

Irish Connemara Green Hunter Final for qualified four-year-olds, assessing jumping, rideability, and conformation.

Day 4 Friday 22nd

Connemara Pony jumping and the puissance.

 

Rings One & Two (from 8am)

Working Hunter classes for ponies aged four years and over, divided by rider age groups and including a class specifically for stallions.

Clifden High Performance Final challenges ponies over demanding fences with a focus on performance, conformation, and versatility.

Puissance Competition follows the High Performance Final, testing ponies’ maximum jumping height with a €1000 prize fund.
