Guided Walks in Connemara and Inishbofin
Our guide will meet all walkers in the Hotel Lounge at 10am each morning prior to departing for the start of each walk. Own transport is required.
Day 1: Killary Fjord: Tuesday’s adventure takes you along the shores of Ireland’s only fjord, Killary Harbour — a breathtaking inlet carved between the mountains. This scenic coastal walk offers sweeping views of the fjord’s still waters. They are framed by rugged hills and dotted with mussel farms. Keep an eye out for otters, seals, and seabirds as you follow the quiet trails through varied terrain. This linear walk covers approximately 10km, is rated easy to moderate, and takes around 3 hours to complete.
Day 2: Discover the Charm of Inishbofin: Step onto the ferry at Cleggan Harbour and cross the water to the captivating island of Inishbofin, where time seems to stand still. Wander through its rugged coastlines, sandy beaches, and ancient ruins. Experience the unique flora and fauna that call this island home. Learn about its fascinating history on the Westquarter Loop from our knowledgeable guide. Covering a distance of 9 kilometers, this looped walk is moderate in difficulty, and takes up to 3 hours. Return Ferry is included.
Day 3: Summit Diamond Hill & Explore Connemara National Park: Thursday’s hike is a highlight — a climb to the summit of Diamond Hill in the heart of Connemara National Park. Follow well-maintained paths and boardwalks as you ascend through heather and bogland. Each step revealing more of the dramatic landscape below. From the top (442m), take in panoramic views of the Twelve Bens, Kylemore Abbey, and the Atlantic coastline. This looped walk is 7km long, moderate to strenuous due to its elevation, and takes roughly 2.5 to 3 hours. There is the option of omitting the peak and doing a lower loop which is 4km long and easy to moderate.
We recommend all walkers come equipped with suitable hiking boots and all-weather gear.
