The Seaweed Centre

A visitor centre offering a seaweed-themed immersive experience from seaweed harvesting along the shore to seaweed baths. The Seaweed Centre also has a seaweed interpretation for educational purposes, a shop and a café selling seaweed products. The Seaweed Centre is a sanctuary with a relaxing calm atmosphere, soft music and lighting and a central art piece inspired by seaweed.Situated in the coast of Connemara, Co. Galway and only 36 miles from Galway City, Leitir Mealláin is one of the three islands collectively known as Ceantar na nOileán. Rich in Irish language and culture, people in Leitir Mealláin have always had a strong connection with the sea, making seaweed farming an important economic activity for the area.

The Seaweed Baths are part of the Seaweed Centre in Leitir Mealláin which also houses a steam room and a massage therapy room where a full range of deep therapy body massage treatments are available.

Afterwards, there is a gorgeous coffee shop in the Seaweed Centre where you can enjoy a  soup and a sandwich and some great company. The centre also houses a seaweed museum which will keep the children busy.
