Inis Meáin parkrun – Weekly 5K starting at the Community Hall/Ionad Pobail

Inis Meáin parkrun is a free, fun, and friendly weekly 5K community event for everyone. Whether you want to walk, jog, run, volunteer, or simply cheer others on, it’s completely up to you. The parkrun has been named one of the most scenic parkruns in the world, ranking in the top 10 in The Ultimate Guide to parkrun by Lucy Waterlow.

The event takes place every Saturday at 11:00am – Gach Dé Satharn at 11.00 r.n.

The Course

The course is a two-lap, 5K route starting and finishing at the Community Hall. Each lap begins with a 500m uphill section and follows an anti-clockwise circuit along very quiet public roads. The course is run entirely on permanent paths, though some areas may collect mud, leaves, or puddles after rain. Marshals or signs may be in place at key points to guide participants.

Aiseanna/ Facilities: Toilet and changing facilities are available at the Community Hall at the start and finish.  Leithris/Seomra Feistis san Ionad Pobal ag tús agus crích an rás.

Getting there:

• Fárantóireacht/ Ferry: Take the Aran Islands Ferry from Rossaveal to Inis Meáin.  Le Aran Islands Ferry ó Ros a Mhíl go Inis Méain

• Eitilt/ Flight: Fly with Aer Arann Islands from Connemara Airport to Inis Meáin Aerodrome. Seiribhís le Aer Arann Islands ó Aerphort Chonamara go Inis Meáin.

• Siúl/ On foot: The Community Hall is located in the centre of the island, next to Scoil Naomh Eoin Secondary School. It is approximately 1.5 km from the Aerodrome and 2.0 km from the ferry jetty. After a briefing at the Hall, participants walk 150m uphill to the start. Participation is completely free, but first-time visitors must register online at parkrun.ie/register
