(4) Glengowla Mines Farm Experience

Glengowla Mines & Farm

Explore Glengowla Mines and sheep farm on the Sheep and Wool Trail. Sheep and Wool Trail Map

Glengowla Mines Farm Experience lies at the gateway to Connemara. Since transforming the mine into a visitor centre in 1998, the Geoghegan family have welcomed thousands of visitors, who have ventured underground to see the workings of a 19th-century silver and lead mine.

Experience

Most visitors come to Glengowla to take the underground mine tour, however, it is also a working family farm, which offers traditional sheep herding demonstrations. Meet the farmer, Keith, and his skilled dog, Pip, who will treat you to a unique cultural experience amidst a breathtaking landscape. You can also try your hand at turf cutting in the peat bog and relax by the warm fire in the gift shop.
