DK Connemara Oysters

DK Connemara Oysters

The DK Connemara Oyster Farm Tour is a must-do food experience in Connemara

DK Connemara Oysters is a family-run oyster farm on Ballinakill Bay, Connemara, along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.

In 2014 Owner–farmer David Keane and a small local team restored the historic waters first licensed for oyster cultivation in 1893.

Today, DK Connemara Oysters grows premium, “creamy, sea-fresh” oysters.  Their flavour reflects the bay’s unique merroir—mineral-rich mountain run-off, pristine Atlantic tides and abundant plankton.

Sustainability

Moreover, Sustainability drives everything we do.

  • Proud Origin Green members (since 2017)

  • Measurable targets across water stewardship, biodiversity and community impact

  • Low-impact husbandry: no added feed or fertiliser; oysters naturally filter the bay as they grow

  • Weekly water monitoring: salinity, clarity, pH and temperature

International Awards

As a result, our craft is recognised internationally.

In 2025, DK Connemara Oysters earned:

  • Great Taste 3-Stars for Ladies’ Choice

  • Great Taste 2-Stars for Pearl of Connemara

Clear independent  proof of the purity, balance and sweetness that define our shells.
